These AffTraq definitions are intended to help you understand Affiliate Sales Tracking Solutions and will be used throughout this overview:

Affiliate - An individual or a company that promotes products and/or services provided by a Merchant in return for a commission.

Affiliate Marketing - Is a marketing channel using Affiliates as sales or lead generators. The Merchant pays commission to their Affiliates for these product sales, sales leads, or some other defined sales related activity that is of value to a Merchant.

Click-Through - When a visitor to an Affiliate Website clicks on a banner or a text link to a product that is a part the Merchant affiliate program a link transfers the prospect to the Merchant's Website.

Impression - When a page containing the Merchant's banner is viewed by a visitor to an Affiliate's Website a single Impression occurs.  Impressions are also referred to as "Page Views".

Link  - When an Affiliate places a banner or some text on their Website containing HTML code that transfers a prospective buyer to the Merchant's Website when clicked on, this is considered a "Link".

Merchant (or Retailer) - Is the business that markets products and/or services on the Internet.
